About the Poets:
Alexander James is a man of many talents and accomplishments. He was born and raised in South LA and has used his experiences to become a successful poet, father, pastor, truth teller, and professional in his field. This year, Alexander is set to release his debut book of poetry entitled "Just Be Honest." This highly anticipated work promises to showcase Alexander's unique voice and perspective on the world. Throughout his 10-year career, Alexander has consistently proven himself to be a dedicated and hardworking professional. He has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients, and his work has made a positive impact in his field.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Nicki Jay began writing at the age of ten. She attended Tennessee State University in Nashville where she majored in journalism, and went on to become a news-writer/announcer for KDKO 510AM in Denver, Colorado. Jay is a writer of news, poetry, fiction, non-fiction and short stories, which genres include: Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Thriller, Middle Grade Fantasy, YA Paranormal, and Biographical Memoirs. She is also a professional copy editor, story editor, proofreader, and writing consultant. Her prose “The Jungle” from her book Feeling Phillip (2009) won 1st place and a scholarship in the 2019 LA City College Scholars and Writers Competition. Nicki Jay self-published her first novel Getting Honey from a Rose in 2011. She also has written (4) other completed, unpublished manuscripts: Weaving an Heir (2005), The Spiritwalker Universe (2017), No Two Roses are the Same (2018) and The Marassa: Book I of the Birth*Life*Death Series (2021). Nicki Jay is the current 1st place winner of the 2022 New Visions Award from Lee & Low Books for The Marassa: Book I of the Birth*Life*Death Series. She lives in Los Angeles, California.
